If you are looking for a cat who keeps you on your toes, makes you laugh and reminds you who really runs the house, meet Chaos the Queen of quirks! Don’t let the name fool you, underneath her feisty exterior lies a misunderstood, scared little lady who has been working very hard on being brave. Chaos is a clever girl, the kind who doesn’t miss a thing. Whether she is perched up high on her cat tower, surveying her kingdom, or quietly observing your every move, she knows exactly what is going on. Think of her as your very own furry security camera (with opinions). Her bed? Oh, that is her sacred space. Approach too closely and you might receive a polite but firm reminder in the form of a ‘dap’ of the paw. This is her way of saying “personal space invaded, back off please”. But don’t worry, offer her a tasty treat and she will soon start to show her softer side. She ADORES treats, especially freeze dried catnip sticks. Feeding her is a great way to bond with her and if you are lucky, she may let you stroke her and you may receive a rare, approving blink. It has taken many months but she now enjoys attention from people she knows. She will now ask for attention from her trusted humans, even sitting on a lap for a cuddle. This trust has taken a long time to build, so it is very important that her new owner is very patient with her and is prepared to start from the very beginning.
Chaos is looking for a rural home where she can learn to feel truly at ease, either in an experienced domestic home or a farm/barn home where she can come and go as she pleases, her humans must live on the land with her though. This way she can have her own independence, with the option to bond on her own terms. If Chaos goes into a domestic home, her new pawrents will need to be patient, understanding owners who have shared their lives with nervous and spicy cats before, the kind of people who know that trust takes time and that some of the best relationships are earned slowly (and with plenty of treats).
With hiding spots, tall perches and humans who respect her boundaries, Chaos will continue to blossom. She has already taken brave steps during her stay with us and made real progress. In the right home, she’ll keep growing in confidence. So, if you have got a quiet home, kind hearts and a sense of humour and you don’t mind sharing your home with a cat who’s equal parts mystery, majesty and mischief, the Chaos, our Queen of quirks might just be the one for you.
