When I first arrived at Gables, I was scared. Very scared. I would not approach anyone and instead hid away in the safety of my beds. It was a massive upheaval in my life and I just needed time to adjust. That is exactly what the staff here gave me, space, time, patience and care. They did not force attention on me or push me before I was ready. They did not, expect me to make faster progress or get frustrated with me. Fast forward a few weeks and I am a changed lady! I have started to trust humans again and now even love a fuss. I have even been known to put my two paws onto your chest for more. I have to admit, it does feel really nice and I will nuzzle my head into your hand. I am actually quite the energetic lass so I would like lots of toys in my new home. I love food, I mean I REALLY love food. So I think that this was how the staff won me over. I was never a bad girl, I just needed to be given a chance.
The type of home I am looking for needs to be quiet, this is the only way for me to flourish. I would love to find owners who know what to expect with timid cats and who will understand that all expectations must go out the window whilst I am settling. It may take me weeks to adjust to my new home. But when I do? Man. oh man, will I be an amazing companion.
I absolutely have the potential, but that will come with time. I will likely revert back to being that shy, scared girl when I first go home. If you have a soft spot for black cats and most importantly, a rescue cat in need then we could be a match made in heaven. I have only been kept indoors previously, so my new home must be in a very safe location for when I am ready to start going outside. I won’t be suitable to be kept as indoor only as I will need to be able to access the outside if I get overwhelmed in the home in the future. Plus, I am quite proud of myself for learning how to use a cat flap here, it is quite fun going in and out!
Time is the most valuable thing a human can spend.
