I am looking for a very special home with people that understand I will take a long time to come around and trust. It may be that I never learn to fully trust, so you must be ok with having a cat in the home that is more like a housemate, rather than a cuddly companion. I am just not that type of boy. I have had a lot of upheaval in my life which is why I am now less trusting of humans. I haven’t had the stability in my life to help me feel safe. I am not a nasty boy, but I will hiss and spit at you if you get too close to me before I am ready for you to approach. This is a defence mechanism I display due to me feeling threatened and frightened. Once I do have a human or two that I like and feel safe around, I will show you my friendlier side and let my guard down a little. My new owners must be prepared and have a room ready for me with lots of spaces ready for me to hide in. If I could kindly ask you to please leave me be while I settle, I will be very grateful for this as I will need my own space in an unfamiliar environment. We may not see a lot of each other at first, but please know you are doing the right thing in offering a cat like me a loving and understanding home.
Along with my, shall we say, more distant disposition, I take some medication to help with my thyroid. So you must be able to give this to me to keep my thyroid levels stable. It may be that I have my thyroid removed before I go to my new home, this means I will no longer need the thyroid medication. If you have owned cats before and have experience with a more hands off type of cat and you can offer me the home I deserve with no expectations, then please consider applying for me. There are so many rescue cats in need of a loving home, please adopt and don’t shop.
Just because you can’t touch me yet, doesn’t mean you can’t love me
