Boy do I have character! If you would be happy with a cat that will enjoy some affection one minute but will tell you off the next when I have had enough, then I could be a possible match for you. My new owners need to have owned temperamental cats before and just be understanding of me and recognise the subtle signs of my body language, this way you won’t get dapped! I enjoy a little head scratch along with my neck being stroked. Please don’t stroke down my body, as this is too invasive for me and I will let you know I am not happy with my claws. Recognising my ear, eye, tail movements will help us establish a healthy and respectable relationship going forward. I am not keen on formal handling such as seeing the vets, this may be why I get a bit defensive and overwhelmed when being stroked, or having not enough of my own space. I really like my food so rewarding me with treats and building up the trust will be important. I don’t want you being put off because I am a black cat, quirks and all, I deserve a home too. I would benefit from a home where there will be multiple places for me to go and be on my own if I want to, but I would like some soft beds and cosy spots near you too when I am feeling loving. Black cats are known for having big personalities, I hope one day I get to share mine with you and live a happy life.
