I may look like a fighter with all these war wounds but in truth? I’m terrified. I am not aggressive, I am not bad tempered, I am just a scared little man whose whole life has been turned upside down. I have been straying for who knows how long and may have never known what love and affection is. I am the sad result of too many unneutered male cats straying, fighting for food, resources and territory. The consequence? I am scared of all of this. I do not know what is going on, what this place is, but I am enjoying the warm beds and yummy food. Knowing that I will no longer be attacked by other cats, that I will not have to fight again or scrounge for scraps. The staff here are scary but have been very respectful of me and give me space, in return I have let them stroke my head a little. It feels…quite nice.
So what sort of home am I looking for? Well, I am not a walk in and jump on your lap kind of cat. I am a project cat. The cat you need to leave while settling. The cat that will need not weeks, but likely months to settle. The cat that needs to be approached with patience and without expectations. The cat that will not get much interest because he is not cuddly straight away and after all of this? You will be rewarded with a cat that will have a truly special bond with you. A life that you will have changed forever. With time and the right home, I may well become that cuddly boy that the staff here know I can be. I am very responsive to treats, these will be a great way to bond with me and build my trust. I will need lots of beds and places to hide away so that I can feel safe and secure. I will need to be approached slowly and my boundaries not to be pushed. A quiet home without children and other pets is a must so that I can finally have time for myself, to relax and to start to bond with my new owner.
So if you want to help a rescue cat, truly help a rescue cat, consider offering me the security of a forever home.
Some lifelong bonds are not forged in an instant but the result of building love and trust. These are the most special of bonds.
