A little bit about me

Oooooh hello there. It’s so lovely to make your acquaintance. I’m really happy that you have clicked on my photo and that you’d like to know a bit more about me.

I think it’s best I start by telling you what happened for me to end up here and looking for a new home. Since a puppy I had lived in the same home, until last year when I was privately rehomed to an elderly lady. I was only there for two weeks before ‘the incident’ happened. The humans don’t have much information other than when the lady plumped a pillow near me I panicked and lashed out. Sadly I was taken on, what was supposed to be, a one way trip to the vet but I was very lucky when the vets reached out to the lovely people here at Gables to see if they could help me.

Since arriving at Gables I’ve been a real gent. I’ve loved meeting all the new humans here and I’ve enjoyed making new dog friends too. Although you may think that at 9 years old I’ll be slowing down, you couldn’t be more wrong. I am still a very energetic and active boy. I love getting out and about for long walks and I’ve always got plenty of energy left in the tank to play ball. After  a day of playing and walking I love nothing more than a good cuddle.

I’m a real gentleman when I am socialising with other dogs. I enjoy saying hello but I’m not pushy and I know when other dogs would prefer me to leave them alone. I’m happy to live with another dog that is looking for a calm and gentle new friend.

If you ask me what my favourite thing in the whole world is I would pick toys every time. Especially tennis balls! When I want to play I will bring the toy to you, when I want to settle down with toys on my own I will take them to bed with me. I prefer people not to touch my toys when they are in my bed. I get very excited when people come to see me in my kennel and I often bring a toy or my blanket to show it off.

I am very fond of food and during my assessment here they discovered that I guard my food if you get too close. This means my new owners will need to have experience in owning a dog with high level guarding behaviour and have dealt with the issue appropriately in the past. I’m looking for a quiet home with someone who can give me lots of exercise and time to adjust to my new home. It’s really important to note that due to my past I cannot be around children at any time.

I’m a sweet boy who needs a bit of understanding and a second chance at life. I really hope you like me.
