Hello, I’m Diego — a shy but sweet greyhound who’s still learning that the world can be a kind and gentle place. I’m a sensitive soul who takes a little time to get used to new things, but once I start to feel safe, you’ll see the soft, thoughtful boy underneath my nerves. I’m not the kind of dog who’ll rush up to you straight away — I prefer to take things slowly, to watch and listen first. But with patience, I’ll begin to show you my trust, and that’s a very special gift.

Out on walks, I find it easier to relax. The fresh air, the open space, and all those interesting smells make me feel more confident. I really enjoy exploring quietly and will sometimes surprise you by being more sociable outdoors — that’s when my tail starts to wag, and I’ll come closer for a little hello. I walk nicely on the lead and like to take my time, stopping often to sniff and observe the world around me.

I’m a polite boy who always tries his best. I don’t love being groomed or handled too much, but I’ll let you do what you need to as long as you go gently. I’m learning that people can be kind, and that makes it a bit easier every day. I’ve also discovered that toys are quite fun — I like to have a gentle play both indoors and out, and I think I’ll enjoy them even more once I’ve settled into a home of my own.

Food is one of the highlights of my day! I’m a big fan of fish and I’m very good about sharing — I don’t guard my food or treats and am always polite at mealtimes. I can live happily alongside another medium or large dog, especially one who’s calm and steady. I’m not ready for boisterous play yet, but I do enjoy quiet canine company and find comfort in having another dog around.

Because I can get nervous, I’m looking for a quiet, understanding home with experienced owners who know how to help a shy dog find his feet. I’d prefer a peaceful household without too much noise or bustle. I could live with older children aged 13 and above, as long as they’re gentle, calm, and respectful of my space. I can’t live with cats or small furry pets — I find them a bit too exciting! You’ll need to have a safe and secure garden for me to be able to stretch my legs in as I do need to stay on lead and wear a muzzle in public, due to being an ex racer.

I might take a little time to show you my heart, but I promise it’ll be worth the wait. If you’re patient, kind, and willing to let me grow in my own time, I’ll reward you with quiet companionship, gentle affection, and the trust of a dog who’s finally learned what love feels like.
