Are you looking for a dog who is full of character and charm? Are you happy to take on a dog who has bags of energy but likes to have a snuggle on the sofa at the end of the day? Well then, I may just tick all of your boxes. I arrived at Gables last September after being taken from my owner for physically abusing me, but these cases take time to get sorted out so I’ve only just recently been signed over ready for adoption. I’ve been finding life in kennels a little stressful which the staff think could be affecting my behaviour but I want to put the past behind me and look forward to a bright and happy future in a new home.
I’ve got lots of energy and I love getting out and about for lovely peaceful walks in quiet places. Imagine taking me to the woods where we can listen to babbling brooks and the sounds of the birds chirping away to each other. We’ll have to be careful in the hot summer months, taking cooler early morning strolls and evening trundles to avoid the heat. Unfortunately we Frenchie’s over heat easily so keeping cool is very important.
I can struggle meeting new dogs and my behaviour can be different with each dog I meet. I seem to prefer spending time with other French Bulldogs but I have got friends here of other breeds too. I can make friends with a dog after a couple of walks, even if I didn’t like them when we first met, so I’d be open to meeting an existing dog to see if we could be friends. I’ve mixed off lead here with a dog and I really wanted to play.
When I’m in the peace and quiet of a home environment I’m cuddly and affectionate. I’ll probably try to sit on your lap, if that’s ok. I do like playing with toys and I really enjoy those really solid hard rubber toys. I know how to sit and I can give my paw when I’m asked. I’m pretty intelligent so I’m sure we could have lots of fun if you want to teach me some new things.
I can find meeting new people a bit tricky so my new owner needs to have experience with dogs that may not be comfortable meeting every person out and about and I’ll need you to be able to commit to multiple meets at least 3 times a week for us to get to know each other. I’m a brilliant chap who just needs the right people and calm home to help me reach my full potential.
