Hi there, I’m Pugsley! I’ve been told I have the softest ears and the most soulful eyes. After a busy career on the track, I’ve decided to retire my racing jacket and dedicate my life to the important work of being a beloved pet. I’m a lean, quiet companion who loves a good sunbeam, a soft blanket, and a gentle head scratch. The lovely staff say I’m incredibly sweet and eager to please, and I get along famously with everyone I meet—people and other dogs too!
I have a big heart, which means I can get a little anxious when I’m left all alone. I love human company so much that when I’m on my own I get really worried! I’m not destructive; I will whine or bark because I miss you. My ideal home is one where my humans are around most of the time—maybe you work from home, are retired, or can take me with you wherever you go. I’ll need a patient family committed to helping me feel safe and secure with positive reinforcement techniques. My new pawrents will need to have experience in owning dogs with separation issues.
Speaking of favourite activities, I must confess my secret passion: the squeaky toy. I don’t just play with them—I’m an expert at strategic hiding. My bed is actually a treasure chest in disguise! I spend quality time burying my prized possessions deep within the blankets, only to rediscover them later with great surprise and excitement. It’s a game I never tire of, and I’d love to show you my burying technique!
As a retired racer, I have excellent manners on a lead, but I do need my new family to follow a few safety rules to keep me (and the local cats and squirrels!) safe. Greyhounds have a natural instinct to chase, so I must always be kept on a lead when we are out on adventures. For extra precaution in public spaces—which is standard for all greyhounds—I’m happy to wear a comfortable muzzle designed specifically for greyhounds. I promise it doesn’t bother me a bit! These simple measures ensure every walk is fun and secure for everyone involved. The chance to sprint is for a secure sole use, fenced-in paddock only!
I thrive on routine and would love a quiet home where I can truly relax. A fenced garden (minimum 5 ft in height) would be a dream for my ‘zoomies,’ but daily lead walks are a must too. What I need most is consistency, patience, and lots of love. If you’re looking for a loyal, long-legged friend who will be your shadow and constant companion, I might be the perfect match for you!
