Hello there, I’m Sid — a gentle, graceful ex-racing greyhound who’s traded the fast track for a slower pace of life, and I must say, I’m rather enjoying it. After years of running, I’m now learning what it means to truly relax — soft beds, kind people, and quiet moments are my idea of heaven.

I’m a calm, affectionate boy who loves spending time with my humans. My favourite thing in the world is to rest my head gently on your lap while you stroke my ears — I find it so comforting, and I might even close my eyes and sigh with contentment. I’m polite and patient, the kind of dog who moves at his own easy pace. You’ll never find me rushing; I’m much more of a “let’s take it slow” kind of lad.

I’ve been told I’m very well-mannered when it comes to things like grooming and vet visits. I stand nicely for brushing (which feels rather lovely, if I’m honest) and I’m happy to be handled or checked over. I’m curious about toys — especially those that squeak — but I haven’t quite figured out what to do with them yet. Maybe my new family can show me?

When it comes to food, I’m very relaxed. I don’t guard my meals or treats. I don’t know any commands yet — life on the track didn’t include much obedience training — but I’m an intelligent dog who enjoys gentle encouragement and praise. I think with a kind hand (and maybe a few tasty treats), I’ll be a quick learner.

When I’m out on my walks, I really come out of my shell. I love meeting new people and will happily trot up to say hello with a gentle wag and a curious sniff. I’m an easy-going companion most of the time, but when I catch the scent of a squirrel or see something small and speedy, I can get a little excited — it’s the racer in me — So I’ll need to stay on lead and wear my muzzle when we’re out and about. I soon settle again though, and I really enjoy taking my time to explore, sniff, and enjoy all the sights and smells along the way. Walks are one of my favourite parts of the day, especially when I get to share them with someone kind by my side.

I’d love to find a peaceful home where I can enjoy life’s simple pleasures — cosy naps, gentle affection, and easy strolls. I’d be perfectly happy living with another calm, friendly dog, but I’m also confident enough to enjoy being the only pet in the home. I can’t live with cats or small furry animals (my racing instincts are still strong!).

If you’re looking for a gentle soul who’ll bring calm, warmth, and quiet companionship into your life, I might just be your perfect match. I may have once been built for speed, but these days, I’m all about slow walks, soft beds, and steady love.

Hi Future Owner!

I may have raced in my past, but now I'm just looking for someone whose lap - and heart - I can rest my head on.
Love, Sid
