Hi there, my name is Udon. I arrived at Gables with my dad when our previous owners had been evicted and were unable to find somewhere dog friendly. Dad and I don’t always bring out the best in each other so the humans feel like it would be best for us to find new homes separately. I’m ok with that, but I will need some help along the way with boosting my confidence.

It takes a little while for me to bond with new people because I am a shy young man, but if you are happy to sit back and let me come to you when I’m ready then it won’t be long before I’m asking for attention. I love soft cuddly toys but you may not see me play with them until I feel really safe and comfortable in your company.

I love going for walks and as an active breed we need plenty of exercise, although many people don’t realise this. I would prefer to walk somewhere quiet because I can get easily overwhelmed by other dogs causing me to bark. I’m very anxious and reactive around larger dogs because I am frightened but I have been able to mix here off lead with other small dogs and I really enjoyed their company. I can’t guarantee I can make friends with every small dog but if you have one and you are considering adopting then don’t be afraid to ask about me.

I would love to meet someone who has lots of knowledge about dachshunds because I know we aren’t the easiest of breeds with being prone to some medical conditions. We also do love to bark, which anyone who has owned one before will know. My new pawrents will need to have experience with dog reactive dogs and be able to take me for walks in quiet places.
