Leave a lasting legacy
We do our best to find loving new homes for all the animals in our care, no matter how long it takes. However, we can only do this with your ongoing support as we receive no Government funding and are totally reliant on a mixture of donations and legacies to fund the vital work that we do.
In recent years, we have become increasingly reliant on legacy income to cover our running costs as these have grown considerably and there is only so much we can raise through fundraising activities.
One of the most powerful ways that you can make a difference is by leaving a gift in your Will as this will help ensure that we are always here to help as many dogs and cats as possible find the special home they deserve.
So, if you are thinking of writing or updating your Will and animals have played, or continue to play, an important part in your life, we would be forever grateful if you would consider leaving a gift, however large or small, to Gables.
Making a Will
Making a Will, or adding a codicil to your existing Will is the only way to ensure that those you love will be taken care of, including your pets. If you have no immediate family, having an up to date Will allows you to make sure that your money benefits the people or causes that you really care about.

Get you Will written for free
If your wishes for your estate are not complex, it may be possible for you to write what’s known as a simple Will for free – no cost or obligation. To make this as straightforward as possible, we’ve partnered with the National Free Wills Network. For more information please request a free Gifts in Wills pack.
Who will care for your pets when you’re gone?
Most responsible pet owners worry about what will happen to their pets after they are gone, but few leave any instructions in their Wills for their care.
We appreciate that many pet owners have already arranged for a family member or friend to take care of their pets in the event of their death, but when the time comes their circumstances may have changed. This leaves family members and friends distressed and unsure what to do with the person’s pet/s at such a difficult time.
To give pet owner’s peace of mind and their pets a secure and happy future, we have a free service that enables us to take in, care for and rehome pets in the event of their owner’s death.
